How do I start care with Embrace Home Care?
Please call our office on 01253 543443 to chat about your requirements. If you decide we can help you, we will arrange a free, no obligation consultation in your own home and from that we can discuss and agree your care plan. Once all this is agreed, we can start your home care as soon as you wish.
What does home care include?
This depends on your wants and needs. If it’s a bit of extra help to stay independent in your own home, you can choose our home help service. Our caregiver visits you in your own home, as often as you need during the week, to carry out or assist with household tasks for example: preparation of meals, ironing, shopping and light cleaning. We also offer companionship, personal care and respite care. Whatever you chose, we are totally focused on you, our customer. We listen to you, and together we can design a care plan that is individual to you.
How do you assess my needs for care?
Following an enquiry, our Registered Care Manager or a Senior Member of our team, will visit you in your own home to assess and discuss your needs to agree what we can do to help. It’s good for your family or medical team to be there too so we can discuss ways of working together to support you to the highest standard.
Then we formally suggest how Embrace Home Care could help you by designing a care plan that is bespoke to your needs and wishes. This will then be agreed with you before our care starts.
Is there anything my care worker cannot do?
Your care is driven by your care plan which is agreed with you up front before we start to work for you. So just talk to us at any time if you want to change it.
We cannot give injections or change sterile dressings. We also cannot undertake any tasks that might cause harm to you the customer, or your care worker.
What is a care plan?
Embrace Home Care provides bespoke care for people in their own homes, this can be a single visit each week or a series of visits each week.
Each of our client’s requirements are different and so we don’t have a set series of activities we deliver for all our customers. Instead we discuss and agree with you what sort of support you need. We can involve your family and your medical team in these conversations too.
Then we agree and tailor a plan that exactly details how we will care for you, from the times we will visit to how you take your tea. We go through it line by line with you to make sure you are happy and that becomes your care plan, which our care workers follow in supporting you.
Can my care plan change if my needs change or I don’t like it?
From time to time your needs may change – more care, less care, different care. We are always flexible and, if you want a change, we adapt your care plan to reflect this. You can discuss any changes that you would like to consider with your usual care worker, or you can ring the office and speak to our Registered Care Manager. We will also ring you from time to time to ensure that everything is alright with your current care plan and you can update your requirements during these calls.
Are you able to work with District Nurses and social services to provide additional nursing or care at home?
Yes, we are used to working with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to provide our clients with a comprehensive solution to their medical and nursing needs.
What is ‘Right to Respect’
Embrace Home Care aims to help our customers enjoy a way of life that enables them, as much as possible, to fulfil their rights as human beings. Their rights to privacy, dignity, independence, security, civil rights, choice, fulfilment and diversity are fundamental to our culture and work, and we do all that we can to help make this happen.
How much will home care in my own home cost?
Your local authority can pay for home care, but each one has a different approach to the type of care you can receive and so your needs may not be catered for. However, if you have a long-term medical condition, the NHS Continuing Healthcare programme might help.
We can also help you investigate what’s possible and what’s not. Alternatively, you, your family or friends can pay for your home care.
We charge a competitive hourly rate. There are no ‘minimum spend’ amounts or additional call-out fees. However, we prefer to have all our visits for a minimum of one hour. This is because we believe in delivering a quality service to our customers. Our caregiver will stay for the full hour and travel time is not included in you hours visit , we will allow our caregivers enough time to travel between their visits. However, we can discuss your needs with you and if we think that your requirements can be fit around a half hour visits we may be able to support you with this.
When we agree your care plan with you, we will go through all the costs as part of a detailed breakdown. Nothing gets charged unless you agree to it first.
Will I have to pay extra for weekends and Bank Holidays?
There is a small extra fee for weekends and unsociable hours, evening & mornings (8pm – 8am) and at weekends (Saturday & Sunday). Any of our Services provided on a Bank Holiday will be charged at time and a half with the exception of Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day which will be charged at double time. This is because we will be paying our caregivers extra for working these hours or days.
Is it possible to try the services for a trial period to see if I like it?
It may be possible to have a trial period and this can be discussed during a free, no obligation consultation. There is a lot of costs that goes into setting up an individual, flexible care package, so there will be a small non-refundable admin fee applied to set up a care package. As we pride ourselves in the quality of our care packages and our highly trained caregiver’s we are certain that you will be happy with our services and not feel the need to cancel your package after a trial has completed.
What happens if there is a medical emergency whilst the carer is looking after someone?
Our caregiver’s are highly trained to deal with emergencies when they are working alone in someone’s home and will call 999 in the event of an emergency.
Then we formally suggest how Embrace Home Care could help you by designing a care plan that is bespoke to your needs and wishes. This will then be agreed with you before our care starts.
How do you ensure your staff are trustworthy?
Our recruitment processes are extremely stringent and include face-to-face interviews, all our care workers are reference checked and Disclosure & Barring Service (Criminal Records Bureau) checked.
In addition our staff are supervised regularly in our clients’ homes. However, if you do have any concerns about a member of our team you just have to telephone our office 01253 543443 and we will address your concerns.
Will the same care worker visit me every week?
We try and give a very consistent service and that means a regular care worker wherever we can. However, if you need lots of visits each week, including day and evening time, it is likely that you will get to know more than one of the care workers in the team. Customers tend to like that as they get to know a few people, rather than just one so that there are no surprises when your regular care worker takes time off.
When new staff join our team, they will always be introduced to you by someone you already know. All our care workers have been referenced and Disclosure & Barring Service (Criminal Records Bureau) checked.
Will my care worker visit at the same time each day?
That depends on your needs and what you would like to do. If you want them at the same time each day, we will design your care plan around this. We will endeavour to arrange your visits around your requested times.
What do I do if my care worker is late or doesn’t show up?
Simple – just telephone our office 01253 543443. It’s likely that they’ve just got held up, but if you call us, we can investigate and if needed, get another member of the team to visit you instead. However, we will make every effort to ring you if we know that your caregiver is going to be late.
What if my regular carer is ill or on holiday?
We will always keep you informed if your caregiver is ill or has planned some time off. To make sure that you are still comfortable with your visits, we will always ensure you are properly introduced to a new caregiver prior to your visit. As always, they will be carefully matched to you.
How will I know it’s an Embrace Home Care worker at the door?
All our care workers wear our black uniform with a purple Embrace logo and carry a photo-ID card with our Embrace’s logo on it. Always ask to see it and if you are still unsure, please call the office on 01253 543443.
You will be introduced to each of the care workers on your team before their first care visit, so you’ll recognise each of them anyway.
We can also help you investigate what’s possible and what’s not. Alternatively, you, your family or friends can pay for your home care.
